Outdoor Training and Adventure Centre - Alston Cumbria

Ghyll scrambling is just one of the many activities we offer, building
self-confidence in physical activity in young people and adults.
Quotes from Previous Visitors
Wirral Grammar School For Girls
'This is country well suited to training of all types. It is climbing
country, ideal for abseiling and rock climbing; it is mining country,
providing ideal locations for underground teamwork; there are water
facilities in the Lakes and the attractive valley of the South Tyne.
This, combined with the guidance offered by the best Outdoor
Instructors available, make our Sixth Form Initiative Training one of
the best available, in our opinion, in the north of England.'
Chorley Detached Team
'Very professional, held safety as a
priority above all else. Excellent, helpful, supportive.'
The King’s School,
Tynemouth
'The activities provided, from my point of view are
provided by experts in their field which is a must for safety.'
Spinney Hill Primary School, Leicester
'At the end of the day the bottom line for visiting staff is "would
they allow their children to partake in the activities, and would they
feel able to entrust them to the care of the Centre staff?" We feel
that this criteria is met, and is a major factor in choosing Alston as
a residential Centre.'
'The activities on offer at the Centre are excellent, providing a good
balance between the physical and conceptual. The fact that groups can
participate in so many activities in such a relatively short space of
time is to be commended.'
Bell Farm Adventure Playground
'I feel that the centre staff are a tremendous credit to your
organisation. They seem to have perfected the art of when not to
intervene. They are highly skilled, professional, supportive, patient
and good humoured. All staff were approachable -
excellent in comparison to many centres visited - a credit to Alston!'
