Our Centre provides all specialist clothing and equipment including waterproof tops and trousers, boots / wellies and rucksacks. Insurance The Centre holds a Public Liability Insurance of £5,000,000. Personal Accident and Cancellation Insurance can be obtained should you require it. Open Day Whilst here there will be the opportunity to explore the area and visit a local attraction. Alston Moor is described as “ England’s Last Wilderness”. It offers a wealth of opportunities for environmental, historical and cultural studies as well as adventurous activities. Whilst our courses are flexible and tailored to the needs of the group, the outline programme has been developed with a number of Prince's Trust groups. The course is designed to enable the group to: ![]() Sixth Form Personal Development Our Sixth Form Personal Development Courses provide opportunities over and above the rigours of academic studies. This is a valuable opportunity for high adventure summer activities as well as winter.The course focuses on problem solving tasks and outdoor based initiative exercises with the element of outdoor activities built in. It aims to help those who wish to develop to gain a deeper understanding of their potential and abilities, and to improve their understanding of others. This builds their confidence in their strengths and qualities which they can go on to apply throughout life. The course is designed to enable the group to:
The Centre is able to offer courses for the above and for Canoe Safety Tests Training and Assessment. Alternatively the Centre is available for self catering / self programming for Canoe Clubs who may wish to use us just as an accommodation provider Situated on top of the Pennines, our centre has easy access to both placid water and white-water canoeing in the Lake District, Northumberland and Durham.
